Rakul Preet Singh Moves Delhi High Court Seeking Direction To Restrain Media Coverage In Drug Probe
Actress Rakul Preet Singh surfaced in connection to the drugs angle in the actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case, after actor Rhea Chakraborty was arrested. As the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating the drugs angle, the NCB issued summons to Rakul soon later. It was on Friday that Singh appeared for questioning at the NCB office in Mumbai. Now, after being questioned by the NCB, as per a news report, Rakul Preet Singh had filed a petition in Delhi High court seeking urgent interim directions from the court to restrain media coverage on her in connection to the ongoing drug probe.

According to an IANS report, Rakul Preet Singh approached the Delhi High Court seeking an interim director to the Centre, Press Council of India and the News Broadcasters Association to make sure that the media of the country does not cover anything related to her in connection to her with the Rhea Chakraborty drug case. The application filed by the De De Pyaar De actress seeks directions until the NCB does not complete its investigation and file an appropriate report before the court.

The petition was filed by Rakul Preet Singh through her advocates that claimed that the actress who has been shooting for a film in Hyderabad was shocked to see the reports about her hitting headlines on the evening of September 23. The plea filed by Singh read, “...the Petitioner had received no such summons from the NCB at either of her Hyderabad or Mumbai addresses and accordingly she remained in Hyderabad. The Petitioner's father, Col. Kulvinder Singh (Retd), decided to take the morning flight on 24.9.2020 to Mumbai from Hyderabad to ascertain the truth of such reports."

The Marjavaan actresses’ plea further read, “...however, from the evening of 23.9.2020 itself, the media started running fake news to the effect that the Petitioner, who was in Hyderabad, had supposedly reached Mumbai on the evening of 23.9.2020 for the NCB investigation.”  Also Read: Rakul Preet Singh Tells NCB Officials ‘Doob’ Means A Rolled Cigarette In Reference With Her WhatsApp Chats With Rhea Chakraborty

Meanwhile, the petition filed by Rakul Preet Singh is likely to come up for hearing in the coming week. For the unversed, Singh approached the High Court earlier this month. While issuing the notice on the petition filed by Singh, the Centre replied on September 17 and said that it is hoped that media houses and TV channels would show restraint. In the reply, the High Court had also said that there has to be some restraint as someone’s reputation is totally tarnished by this.
